Welcome back! Today we share an easy DIY tutorial to make a personalized keychain for Father’s Day. In just a few short steps, you’ll create a thoughtful gift that is sure to be cherished by dear old dad (and it would also make a great graduation gift, too!).
Supplies:
One charm from our Indi-Pendant line
A key ring (shown in: TM008)
A favorite photo
Glue (appropriate to your photo paper, see note below)
Scissors
Step 1: Print your photo; be sure you have chosen one that is in a size that is appropriate to feature the faces in your keychain. We recommend using heavy card stock or photo quality paper if printing on your home printer.
Step 2: Open the Indi-Pendant charm and pull out the glass front so that you can glue it to your picture. Once you have determined which glue you will use (see “pro tip” below), glue the glass directly to the portion of the picture you want to feature in your pendant. Be sure to allow the glue ample time to dry.
PRO TIP: You will need to choose a clear glue based on the type of paper your photo is printed on. A water-based glue is needed for pictures printed on a laser printer, while a solvent glue is needed for pictures printed on an inkjet printer that uses water-soluble ink. The choice of glue is important because the wrong type of glue can melt your picture!
Step 3: Once the glue is completely dry, carefully trim your photo down to the size of the glass, eliminating all of the extra paper.
Step 4: Using a sticky dot, place the glass and photo directly into the center of the pendant and press firmly to secure.
Step 5: Attach to your keychain, and your gift is ready to go!
